About this tool

This tool reads the immobiliser ISN and the vehicle identification number directly out of a Bosch MG1 or MD1 dump. Load an internal EEPROM read to recover the ISN and VIN, or a flash read to pull the vehicle data and identify the ECU from its DST descriptor.

The ISN is split into its DME (engine) and EGS (gearbox) parts, because the two are needed separately when synchronising a replacement module. The VIN is reported both in full and in the seven-character short form used across BMW diagnostic tooling.

Everything happens locally in your browser using the FileReader API. The tool makes no network requests at all — you can disconnect from the internet and it still works. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you deliberately choose to share a sample with us using the form below the tool, which is entirely optional and separate from reading your file.

This is a read-only tool. It does not modify your dump. Always verify what you read against your programmer before writing anything to a module.

Questions

Which dumps does it accept?
Bosch MG1 and MD1 internal EEPROM reads (for ISN and VIN) and flash reads (for vehicle data and ECU identification). Load either into the matching slot.
Is my dump uploaded anywhere?
Not by the tool. Reading your file happens entirely in the browser and involves no network request of any kind. There is a separate, optional form below the tool for sharing a dump with us to improve detection — that only sends anything if you fill it in and press the button yourself.
Why are the DME and EGS ISN shown separately?
When you replace or align a module you generally need one or the other, not the combined value. Splitting them avoids the most common transcription mistake.
Can it write or modify a dump?
No. It is deliberately read-only. Any tool that modifies a dump should output a new file and leave the original untouched.
Verify before you write. This tool reads a dump and reports what it finds. Always confirm the values against your programmer before writing anything to a module, and only work on vehicles you own or are authorised to service.
